At the end of WWII the government was selling its barracks at a discount -- Dave's dad bought this from Davis-Monthan AFB. Dave's family lived on the left side, his Uncle Dick's family lived on the right side. Dog lying in the shade belonged to Dave, therefore she is lying on the left side. Note that they had completed landscaping the estate -- the ocotillo has rocks piled around it.
